Week 7 - Ideation #2

Updated: Dec 12, 2021

Welcome to part two of our Ideation Sessions!

After starting last week off with a bang, this week we continued exploring the different aspects of the possible solution to our "How Might We".

If you need a reminder, this was it:

"How Might We" help office workers recover effectively during the workday so that they feel more energized throughout the day and at the end of the workday when they get home.

This week's ideation session was a little bit different than the last one. Instead of coming up with whole new ideas, we explored different aspects and characteristics of existing products that we use and love and thought about how we can incorporate them into our solution.

We began with an exercise called "Copy from the Best": by thinking of a brand that we love like Wolt, iRobot, AirPods, Spotify and OkCupid, and then proceeded to break it apart and explore its' values:

This allowed us to examine a products characteristics without associating it to the product itself, and therefore we could find ways to integrate the same characteristics into our solution, even if they are completely different.

We thought about what makes the brands we love so unique and special. Wolt, for example, has excellent transparency with its users who can always know exactly where their order is and when it will arrive. We thought it would be nice if our solution could give our users the same value in the way that it will reflect to them the last time they took a break and when the next one is coming.

The next exercise we did was called "Perfect Assistant". This was a fun little game of trying to imagine what the perfect solution to our problem would do, if it could do anything. We thought back to our Persona's timeline from last week and imagined all the places where our perfect assistant could intervene. The game allowed us to open up our minds once again and think about all the possible solutions we could create if we weren't limited by technology or skill, and therefore allowed us to see the different points of impact that our solution could have.

All of this lead us to our final solution - meet the Power Breaklet!

The Power Breaklet is a smart personal assistant, in the form of a wearable bracelet, that will help our users take effective breaks throughout their workday. The Breaklet will remind our users when they are starting to feel drained that it's time to take a break by tracking their bio-feedback and sensing their level of exhaustion. By following the Breaklet's suggestions, our users will be able to take re-energizing power breaks that will allow them to recover effectively multiple times throughout the workday.

If you read this thinking "I need this in my life", don't worry - we're coming for you soon!
